Environmental Policy

One of Coilcraft's corporate goals is to minimize the environmental impact of our business activities and of the products we make.

Coilcraft is a manufacturer of electronic components, chiefly wire-wound inductors & transformers, made principally from combinations of insulated copper wire, ceramic, ferrite, and various plastic and polymer resins.

Coilcraft’s facilities throughout the world shall implement an Environmental System which is designed to minimize the impact to the environment applicable to each locality. Coilcraft shall strive to continuously improve upon our Environmental System activities.

We therefore set forth the following principles, which together will constitute the Environmental Policy for this company:

1. We shall observe all applicable laws, and maintain appropriate legal documentation in the countries where we manufacture. We shall observe international accords, which may pertain to countries where we sell our products. We will also be responsive to individual customer concerns with respect to environmental matters.

2. We shall commit to protecting the environment and will strive to prevent and reduce pollution, air emissions (including GHGs) and noise levels by our actions and we will eliminate or minimize the use of substances known to be environmentally undesirable.

3. Hazardous substances, Water and Solid Waste shall be identified, controlled and disposed in alignment with local legislation.

4. We shall implement a global process to ensure that the component material content is in alignment with current global and contractual requirements.

5. Local facilities will set their targets and objectives depending on their activity and review annually.

6. We shall implement appropriate recycling initiatives where appropriate and possible.

7. We will welcome proposals from our customers to develop re-use strategies for materials, where possible, especially packaging materials.

8. We shall actively promote the conservation of natural resources such as energy, water, and raw materials through efficiency initiatives and sustainable practices. We will strive for continuous improvement by setting and monitoring environmental performance goals to reduce our overall environmental impact.

9. Climate & natural capital stewardship. We will:
        a)    measure and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our operations and purchased energy, setting objectives that support decarbonization over time;
        b)    assess and manage noise emissions from our operations to reduce potential impacts on employees and neighboring communities;
        c)     protect biodiversity and ecosystems by avoiding activities that contribute to deforestation, and by minimizing impacts on land use and soil quality in line with applicable requirements;
         d)   respect animal welfare by complying with applicable laws and avoiding practices that cause unnecessary harm within our operations and supply chain.

These principles will be communicated to our employees and business partners by appropriate displays and announcements. We will maintain an Environmental Management System in alignment with the requirements of ISO 14001, RBA and our business partners.
